Pathways for Pollinators and People Celebration

Celebrate a new milestone at Bickham-Rudkin Park with a morning dedicated to our community and the pollinators that help keep Oklahoma beautiful. This family-friendly event hosted by City of Edmond Parks and Recreation, Urban Forestry and Okies for Monarchs offers hands-on learning, local outreach, and a special ribbon cutting ceremony to kick things off.
We invite you to explore the new pollinator habitat and beyond, with the Margaret Annis Boys Centennial Arboretum, walking trails, pond, and wildlife all available to enjoy at this location. Whether you’re a gardener, a nature lover, or just looking for a fun morning at the park, we can’t wait to see you there!

Okies for Monarchs: Stop by the Okies for Monarchs table to learn how you can help monarchs and other pollinators. They will have educational materials, coloring sheets, and a limited supply of free native milkweed plugs to give away; first come, first served!
Pop-Up Nature Center: Explore our pollinator-themed activities and learning materials designed to help guests of all ages discover the wonders of the natural world right in our own backyards. We will also have snacks to share, and a drawing for a super-sized 3-D butterfly kite!
New Pollinator Habitat at Bickham-Rudkin Park
The City of Edmond was recently awarded the Pathways for Pollinators and People grant by Oklahoma Monarch Society, which funded the creation of a new pollinator habitat in Bickham-Rudkin Park. The City was selected for existing efforts by the Parks and Recreation Department, including maintaining over 15,000 square feet of vital habitat, host plants and nectar sources for pollinators, a robust urban canopy existing alongside many wildflower and native grass areas in Edmond’s parks and public spaces, and unique pollinator-centered outreach and educational opportunities offered to the community throughout the year, such as monarch tagging. This grant is meant to inspire municipalities to take steps to support pollinators in their own communities and City of Edmond is honored to be a recipient!
