Let’s “Party for Pollinators!” Join Oklahoma’s garden club members, native plant gardening, wildflower and pollinator enthusiasts in this 45th workshop of Oklahoma Garden Clubs, Inc. (OGC), member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC). Presented by OGC’s Northeast District (NED), “Wild About Wildflowers 2024” is THE “Party for Pollinators”.
Come to plan for planting habitat and food sources for our native beneficial pollinators. Plan(t) for the future! Fall is a great time–maybe, the best!?–to plan, prep, select, and plant.
This year’s hands-on workshop explores our native wildflowers and their support of native pollinators, including: Passiflora (passionvine) and Viola sororia (violet) with Dione vanillae (gulf fritillary butterfly) and Andrena violae (mining bee) plus our many bats, beetles, flies, hummingbirds, moths, and wasps. Oh my!
Registrants will enjoy welcome by NSU-BA staff member (and Chief Gardener and Pollinator Proponent) interactive lecture, walking identification activities and networking lunch. The afternoon features make and take bird feeders plus tutorial and hands-on assistance with certification.
Learning objectives:
- identification of native plants and pollinators
