Celebrate the arrival of spring at FAM! This free, family friendly event explores Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) through stories and song, hands-on activities, and more.

FAM and community collaborators will help you to gain a new appreciation for Indigenous knowledge, STEM and Oklahoma’s unpredictable spring weather.

  • Traditional Storytelling – Sharing Indigenous stories that highlight ecological wisdom.
  • Native Plant Identification – Hands-on activity identifying plants used in traditional medicine or for food.
  • Crafting with Natural Materials – Making items using materials like beads, feathers, or clay, inspired by Indigenous traditions.
  • Seed Planting or Gardening – Teaching sustainable gardening practices based on Indigenous methods.
  • Traditional Games – Engaging in games that have cultural significance or sharing information on wellness in different forms.
  • Eco-Tracking – Learning to track animals or interpret signs in nature based on Indigenous ecological knowledge.
