The Tulsa Master Gardeners will offer a basic composting course this spring for anyone interested in learning how to successfully compost at home. This class is open to all experience levels and is ideal for gardeners who want to turn everyday organic materials into nutrient-rich compost.
Participants will gain a basic understanding of the composting process and learn about current methods, including hot and cold composting. Instruction will cover a variety of composting systems such as piles, bins, trenches, tumblers, and vermicomposting. The course will also explain which organic materials can be composted, how to use them for the best results, and how to maintain compost while troubleshooting common problems. Participants will learn how finished compost can be used to amend soil and improve plant health.
Classes are taught by experienced Master Composters.
Cost to attend is $10 per participant. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
