About this Monarch Project:

A Little Piece of the Prairie is a native plant garden created by an Oklahoma native with a passion for gardening, conservation, and protecting the natural beauty of our home state. This project is dedicated to creating valuable habitat for monarch butterflies, native bees, and other pollinators through a thoughtfully selected collection of Oklahoma native wildflowers, host plants, and grasses.

By planting species that naturally belong in our region, this garden will provide nectar, host plants, and shelter to support pollinators throughout the growing season while helping restore habitat and encourage local biodiversity.

As an Oklahoma native, I wanted to create a little piece of the prairie right here at home. My hope is that this garden will demonstrate how even a small space can make a meaningful difference and inspire other Oklahomans to incorporate native plants into their own landscapes.

A Little Piece of the Prairie is more than a garden. It’s a way to give back to the place I call home, support the wildlife that depends on native plants, and help preserve Oklahoma’s natural heritage for generations to come.

This project is made possible through the Wildlife Habitat Grant Program, supported by the Oklahoma Monarch Society, Kirkpatrick Foundation, and Oklahoma Native Plant Society.
