OKIES COMMITTED!

I have hosted events for pollinators including monarch butterflies for children, adults, and teacher workshops for years (as a naturalist ) at Oxley Nature Center. I encourage Citizen Science and the plight of the monarch on social media (Oxley and personal) FB pages. I have a large wildlife habitat garden and Monarch Way Station at home, with many nectar plants and 7 varieties of milkweed. I believe Monarchs are a beautiful key species, whose plight has captured the hearts of the public, and caused them to pay attention not just to monarchs but to all other life around us!

I planted a butterfly/pollinator garden 4 years ago and have added to it each year. This year I’ve had many butterfly visitors with Monarchs constantly in the garden for over a month now. I was able to raise and release my first Monarch this week. I’ve been sharing my garden on facebook and encouraging my friends and neighbors to plant milweed and nectaring plants for the butterflies.

I look forward to planting my first monarch friendly garden and learning as much as I can about these beautiful creatures.

I have always loved and enjoyed al butterflies especially the Monarch. Although I have a few milkweed plants they like, I would like to enhance my gardens with more. I’m willing to learn more about what I can do to help the Monarch in any way and volunteer also to help them.

One of my two raised flower bed is currently planted in pollinator plants. Each year I add more and more varieties of pollinator plants.
